However, I want to make my message very plain and simple. We are already equipped with the necessary things to increase attention and support for awareness, early detection, and treatment as well as palliative care of this disease. But what we are completely missing is to fix our lifestyle. The world media and health care may not show you the one and only magic pill for every kind of disease, this magic pill is called a good lifestyle starting from your food habit to the power of positive thinking. Let me tell you the perplexing fact, why we are not getting enough information about the holistic nutrition and lifestyle to prevent cancer? The answer is very simple! Because these are not part of detection or treatment. When it comes to treatment, there is money involved as a mean of business. So when we fall sick over and over again, it’s a very healthy opportunity for the business world. That is why, nowadays, we see a lot of advertisements and media coverage’s about the treatment, not the lifestyle.
Moreover, we are forced to jump into the medicine, treatment, and surgeries as a first priority. Of course, we need all of them, but when? It’s only when, we don’t have any option left, we can go for it undoubtedly. But being a pharmacist and biochemist, I strongly believe that, medicine or any kind of visible treatment can’t be the first option for any disease, it should be and must be the very last option. Mark my words. Even you can prevent cancer at the very initial stage just by changing and fixing your lifestyle. You might be laughing at my words but it’s true, cancer is nothing but the proliferation, uncontrolled growth and mutation of the cells.
Lets back to the real point that is breast cancer. If I go with the flow, I may tell you to go for the 6 universal steps on this breast cancer awareness month. These 6 steps are encouraged to learn more about breast cancer and spread our knowledge and awareness to friends, family and who are badly in need of it.
- PREVENTION: Ask my doctor what steps you can take that could reduce your risk of breast cancer.
- LEARNING: Get the proper knowledge about your own risks.
- EXAMINATION: With your doctor, find out when you should get screened for breast cancer, and how often.
- DENSITY: Have a conversation with your doctor to see if you have “dense” breasts, and which screening approach is right for you.
- GENETICS: Discuss with my doctor about your family history — both mom’s and dad’s side — of breast cancer, to see what it might mean for your level of risk.
- EDUCATE Once You’ve put these steps into action, “pay it forward” by encouraging friends and family to do it as well.
What I have said, in these six steps, these are very traditional. Of course, we need them but these are not giving us the true healing power and the tools to prevent the risk of breast cancer. Of course “We know that early detection is still the best way to beat breast cancer. But we can lower your risks and prevent breast cancer by living a healthy lifestyle – for example, food habits, regular movement or exercise, reducing stress, wearing loose-fitting clothes maintaining a good hormonal balance, etc.
