Aiming at showcasing care, love, warm welcome and most importantly, guidance for the newcomers to adorn the very beginning of their journey in a foreign land, ‘’A south Asian Welcome party’’ was held on 18th November 2019, at Internationales Centrum ‘’Haus auf der Mauer’’. The program was arranged by Bangladeshi Students’ Association in Jena, Thuringia, with the collaboration of our Friedrich Schiller University Jena and sponsored by DAAD. People from different countries and communities helped us to come up with the event, especially Pakistani student association showed up and expanded their helping hands in need, that’s why still we believe that ‘A friend in need is a friend indeed’.

Now, let me give you a glimpse of the program that we planned for so long. That delightful evening was divided into four different phases. In the first half of the programs, we had the pleasure to have a group of amazing speakers, researchers, and scientists who have been excelled in their academic life in Germany. The session was grasped by the freshers to the fullest, I must say! Myself being the host of that event, I found that the audiences were too very much active in the first informative session because they received a lot of information, suggestions, and recommendations that they are really in need of in their abroad life and higher study.

The second part was all about cultural activities –the most prominent attraction of the event I believe. It was full of guitar, music, dance, cup song, cultural presentations, and claps. We got huge round applause from our beloved fresher that made us, the volunteers, feel happy and contented. Being a devout lover of culture and its variation, I truly got the essence and flavor of food to feed the mind and soul that evening. We cared for fresher’s mental health and well-being and that’s why we arranged a cultural session immediately after the informative session.

We believe in the importance of networking and the art of communication. So, in the 3rd part of the event, we opened the floor for everyone so that they get to connect with people from different countries while having food. Everyone’s active participation came to an end by talking, eating and networking.

Last but not least, do you think we are boring? No way, not at all. We carried out a Dj party for the whole night and got so much pain on the whole body that we had to stay at home on weekends instead of jogging, hiking, enjoying nature, meeting friends and acquaintances and what not.

At a glance, it was an icebreaking session for the freshers to make a bridge among all of us. We finished the program successfully with good hope to relate to everyone than ever before. Because networking helps us to go a long way, sometimes to the desired destination.

We look forward to working together with all of you soon!

Stay happy, be empathetic and spread happiness.

Towards a more inclusive and tolerable community!
